I wake up to the sound of my alarm blaring at 6 am. After hitting the snooze button a couple of times, I finally drag myself out of bed and begin my day as Abed Salama.
As a Palestinian refugee living in a crowded camp, every day is a struggle for survival. I start my day by walking to the nearby water pump to collect water for my family. This is a daily routine that must not be missed, as water is scarce and we have to ration it carefully.
After completing my morning chores, I head to my job as a construction worker. The pay is low, but it helps me provide for my family. The work is physically demanding and often dangerous, but I have no other option.
During lunchtime, I sit with my coworkers and we discuss our dreams and aspirations. Despite our difficult circumstances, we refuse to lose hope for a better future.
After work, I rush home to spend some time with my family before heading to night classes at the local community center. Education is highly valued in our culture and I am determined to continue learning despite the challenges.
